About this qualification

SHBBSKT010 — Provide Skin Needling Treatments

Skin needling is one of the most in-demand advanced skin treatments in Australia — and one of the few that requires a nationally accredited qualification to perform legally. SHBBSKT010 trains you to safely perform professional skin needling to a depth of up to 1.0mm, stimulating the skin's natural collagen and elastin production to visibly improve fine lines, acne scarring, enlarged pores and overall skin texture.

This is a skin penetration procedure. A workshop certificate or manufacturer training is not sufficient for insurance or regulatory compliance. SHBBSKT010 from a registered RTO is the only qualification that satisfies professional indemnity insurers and state skin penetration legislation across all Australian states and territories.

Which pathway is right for you?

Your starting point determines what you need to study. Select your background below.

Stream 1 · New to the Beauty Industry

Full Skin Needling Pathway — 4 Units

For practitioners with no prior beauty or healthcare qualifications

This stream is designed for people entering the beauty industry for the first time. It covers all foundational knowledge — infection control, skin science and body structures — alongside the clinical needling unit. By the end you hold four nationally accredited statements of attainment and the skills to practise as a qualified skin needling technician.

Units Included

All four units are completed as part of this pathway. Study online at your own pace, then attend face-to-face practical training with Kelly.

Skill Add-On — 2 Units

Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy or above — the most direct pathway to qualification

If you already hold a Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy or higher, your existing qualification covers the foundational skin science and body structures knowledge. You need just two units — infection control and the needling unit itself — to be fully qualified to practise. This is the fastest, most efficient route to adding a nationally accredited skin needling service to your practice.

Units Included

If you already hold a current SHBBINF002 (completed within the last 3 years), confirm with Kelly at enrolment — you may be able to credit this unit and enrol in SHBBSKT010 only.
